Happy Birthday to my wonderful Husband!!

Today is Ryan's 35th birthday!! We celebrated last night, with Birthday dinner (lasagna) and ice cream cake. And of course, his present! Ever since we moved into the new house, he has been talking about building up a tool collection. Just in case he feels like building or fixing anything. (I have my doubts, but we'll see....hehe)

Anyway, I found a tool set at Costco that had a bit of everything in it and grabbed it for him! He was surprised :)

Here is his cake:

As you can see.........he was THRILLED to have Ice Cream Cake!!!!!!!! :-)

And my ham bone son figured he would make the best looking ice cream cake of all.........and I have to agree :)

Happy 35th Babe!! I love you very much!! Here's to 35 more!!!!!

Artsy Fartsy weekend!!

This weekend my friend Heather came over and we played along with the Virtual Scrap night on Splitcoaststampers.com! We had so much fun doing the challenges and trying new things! Each challenge had a 45 minute time limit too, so we were hard at work! We weren't able to get ALL 14 challenges done, but we did put a good dent in them.

Here are some of the things that I made over the weekend:

For this card we had to try the cracked glass look! I am liking this :)

This was another new technique for me, the tiling look. We also had to use specific color combs and have a "hidden" element on the card too, so I made one of the boxes "swing" to reveal the "be mine" message.

This next card was quite the challenge!! We had to make a card using a mask!! And an ACTUAL mask too, not the MASKING technique. I had NO masks!!! So I had to make this one from scratch and ran out of time to do anything more on it. It's kinda cute I guess....not sure how I feel about this one yet :)

This is a little Top Note gift box! I have not made one of these yet, but I sure do love it! I can't wait to make more!!

This color combo is my new fave!!! And I LOOOOVE the Circle Circus stamp set too!! I think I might make several things in the coming weeks using this color combo :)

On this card we used the "emerging color" technique from Splitcoaststampers. First time I have tried it, and I LOVE it!! Plus.....I found one more use for my brayer!!

For this card, we had to select a song from the Top 100 of 1999 and use the title or part of the lyrics as inspiration....I selected the song "Kiss Me" by Sixpence Nonethericher!

That is all for now, believe it or not there are even more things to show you! But, I have to work in the morning so I must get to bed :)

Goodnight Blog-land Friends!!

Crazy Times!!

Well, I am still an unemployed bum! I can't believe it is taking so long to find a new job! This is ridiculous.....and I am getting frustrated. And nervous. I am actually seriously considering moving home to BC. But then that opens up a whole new can of decisions. *SIGH* Being a grown up SUCKS!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself at a Scrapbook retreat with Mel, her friend Debbie and Shawna.........and about 37 other happy and excited diehards like myself! It was soooooo much fun and I am already counting down the sleeps until next year's! I can't wait to go again! The room was huge, the prizes were fab, the food was to-die-for and the company was the best! What more could a girl ask for?!?!

I can't remember the last time I laughed and giggled and had so much fun.......and I made a couple of new friends too :) Thanks girls for the fun weekend..........and Mel............you are SO good for my soul :)

Last week Ryan, Brad and I were all sick........to varying degrees and for different reasons. Brad started us out with all the H1N1 symptoms, followed by me who woke up with a horrible sore throat the Sunday morning after Halloween. Ryan topped us all by running a fever of around 104 and coming in and out of consciousness for the next 3 days. As it turned out he had a bladder infection and his body was working triple time to try and get rid of the infection :( I have NEVER seen him so sick and it was pretty scary.
Alas............a week later, we are all feeling 100% better. Ryan has returned to work. Brad has returned to his normal state of driving me bonkers. And me? I have returned to being my usual stress-case self :)

Some Crafty Time!!

I spent the evening locked up in my craft room tonight watching Season 1 of Grey's Anatomy and working on some swaps I have to get in the mail! I made an ATC for a swap on Swap-Bot that I joined.......with a "DREAM KITCHEN" theme! Of course, I forgot to take a picture before I sealed it up in the envelope for mailing.........UGH!

Then I put together the cards for my first Grab Bag month theme......the hostess selected a Halloween theme for this month! It's just too bad the girls getting the cards will receive them late.........the hostess was a little behind schedule.

Anyway, here are the 3 cards that I made using only supplies from the little kit the hostess sent me.....all I added was some card stock for the bases!

Last night I went to work with Ryan, just to keep him company and get out of the city. We had fun listening to tunes and chatting and it was neat to see what he does when he goes to work every night! It was kinda cool to watch the guys at the farm load the truck....they actually load the turkeys by hand! And the birds were very well behaved much to my surprise too.......I kind of expected them to be loud and obnoxious!

The smell left something to be desired though....

LOL!

Brad is going to his first party on Saturday.......it's a Halloween party and I am a little nervous....but I am sure things will be fine! Hopefully he has fun! He told me this evening he is going to dress up as a mad scientist....

HAHA

Have a safe and happy Halloween all.........I am hoping we will get lots of trick or treaters this year, since we never had ANY in our condo!! Feel free to stop by for treats :)

MOJO109......

This weekend I am off to a retreat at Lily Lake and I spent the day today getting crafty, cooking supper and packing up for my weekend away! I am starting to get a little excited, but still a bit stressed about the packing up stuff!! Looking forward to a girl's weekend away though :)

One of the projects I made today was a card following the Mojo Monday sketch...

Here is the sketch....

And here is my card...

Let me know what you think!

On another note.........I quit my job last week. I walked right out, during my shift and never looked back! I have been so stressed out lately and I knew the time was coming. I thought I would wait until I had a new job and give proper notice...........but I just got too sick and tired of some of the things going on in that place and couldn't take it anymore! Something totally snapped in me. I have never really done anything like that before.........and let me say it was long over due! And I felt GREAT!!!!!!

But of course, now I am stressed trying to find a NEW job. I had some call backs yesterday and today though......and I have 3 interviews next week. Surely one of them will pan out. Or I'll be flippin' burgers at McD's!

Who ever said change was good............was right :)

A card!!!!!

I have been wanting to try one of Michelle Zindorf's tutorials ever since I saw Mel make this card back in August at the crop! Last night Dallas came over for some artsy time and I finally made one..........after several attempts and in between mouthfuls of popcorn :) I like how it turned out......and can't wait to try more :)
